Garant vs Rush: which nicotine pouch should you buy?

Choosing between Garant and Rush usually comes down to strength band, pouch format and what is actually in stock. All three are things we can answer directly, because both brands are ours to ship.

Every Garant can we stock is 4 mg per pouch, and every Rush can is the same. There’s no strength ladder within either brand. The per-gram numbers differ, though: Garant’s 0.43 g pouch works out to 9.3 mg/g, while Rush’s 0.7 g pouch is 5.7 mg/g, even though both are slim.

Since strength is fixed, compare cans. Garant packs 27 pouches (108 mg total nicotine) at CA$14.00, or CA$0.52 a pouch. Rush packs 20 pouches (80 mg total) at CA$12.00, or CA$0.60 a pouch. Garant suits you if you want more pouches per can; Rush suits you if a lower can price matters more.

That leaves flavour as the real difference. Both lines include Mint and Berry. Only Garant covers Eucalyptus and Peach (try Garant Eucalyptus Light or Ice Peach Light); only Rush covers Fruit, Mango, and Melon (try RUSH Mango Ice Light or Watermelon Ice Light). Pick the brand that has the taste you want — the strength won’t change.

Flavour and format

Both lines use a slim pouch, so the shape in the lip is the same. The difference is the weight: Garant's pouch is 0.43g, Rush's is 0.7g. Rush is the weightier slim, with more material to sit there; Garant is the lighter-feeling option.

The flavour contrast is sharper than that. Garant's mint products are the assertive end: Extreme Light rates sting 7 and mint 7, Ice Cool Light is sting 7 and mint 6, and even the plain Mint Light sits at 5/7. Rush's Peppermint Ice Light matches that at 5/7, but its fruit flavours go the other way: Grape Ice, Mango Ice, and Watermelon Ice all rate mint 2 and fruit 7, so the cooling note is light and the fruit leads.

So pick by intensity, not by brand. Want a strong mint sting? Garant's Extreme Light or Ice Cool Light. Want fruit that stays fruity? Rush's Mango Ice Light or Watermelon Ice Light. Garant's Ice Peach Light is the middle ground, at fruit 5 and mint 5.

Four of the six Rush cans are fruit-forward, and all four share the same tasting profile as the three already mentioned earlier on this page — Blueberry Ice Light is the fourth, matching them exactly. So the fruit group behaves consistently: mint is a cool finish, fruit leads. Blueberry Ice Light is the familiar berry; Mango Ice Light and Watermelon Ice Light are the less common picks, but none changes the intensity.

The two straight mints are where the range splits. Peppermint Ice Light is the assertive option, as already noted. Wintergreen Light is the surprise: it rates sting 4 and mint 2, making it the mildest can in the entire Rush line — closer to a soft mint than a wintergreen bite. So choose by presence: any fruit blend gives you the same easy-going feel, while Peppermint is loud and Wintergreen is quiet.

Price and availability in Canada

At the can level, Rush is the cheaper buy: CA$12.00 for 20 pouches versus Garant's CA$14.00 for 27. Per pouch, the order flips — Garant works out to CA$0.52, Rush to CA$0.60. So if you want the lowest price on one can, pick Rush; if you want more pouches from a single purchase, Garant gives you seven extra for two extra dollars. Both lines are all 4 mg, so this is purely a quantity trade-off.

Flavour availability is where the two ranges stop overlapping. Mint and berry appear in both, but eucalyptus and peach are only in the Garant line (Eucalyptus Light and Ice Peach Light), while fruit, mango, and melon are only in the Rush line (try Mango Ice Light or Watermelon Ice Light). Common questions

The two blueberry cans match on sting (4/10) but split on flavour. Garant Ice Blueberry Light rates fruit 5 and mint 3, so the berry leads with a cool edge. RUSH Blueberry Ice Light rates fruit 7 and mint 2, so it is the more straightforward fruit pouch. Every other Rush fruit flavour follows the same 7/2 pattern, making Garant's Ice Blueberry the only fruit option in either line that keeps a noticeable mint.

The can interior is different too. All six Rush cans hold 14 g of material. Garant is split: Ice Blueberry and Ice Peach hold 13.5 g, while Eucalyptus, Extreme, Ice Cool, and Mint each hold 11.8 g. All Garant cans still contain 27 pouches, so the two fruit-ice pouches are denser — a slightly fuller feel in the lip.
